1: Name and discuss the similarities differences between both painting projects
Similarities: The similarities are that both have colorful paints and both paintings are on canvas.
Differences: The differences are that one of them is a portrait and the other is just a boat. The portrait I did the same way as "Andrew Atroshenko" but for the boat it was my idea. Also, the idea of the boat is different then the portrait. I sewed some parts of my picture and used different painting techniques.
2: What were the steps that you took to create this work (choose a painting)?
The first step was paint wash and then I started to out line the boat and then paint it. After finishing painting the boat I started to cut the boat and cut the pieces for the ocean. I then painted a separate canvas for the background. After I sewed some of the pieces onto the canvas, I sewed a piece of the sky, the waves and the boat. That is the process I used to create this picture.
3: What would you have done differently to make the work stronger?
Something could have done differently with the background, was to paint it using the thick paint technique.
4: What were you trying to express or communicate?
I was trying to communicate a relaxing feeling. I wanted people who looked at this painting to think about how nice it would be to be on the ocean in this painting. I also wanted people to think about creation and use their imagination.
5: What would you name this piece of artwork and why?
I would name this "Relaxing Boat", because the scene is very relaxing. You can see the sunset in the background. There are a few waves, but it is not intended to be threatening.
6: How were you Inspired?
I don't really know what inspired me to do this painting. A big inspiration came from my teacher who told me I should cut out some of the pieces and sew them on. I thought this was a great idea and would give my painting a unique look. I am happy with the final result.
